The Student Career Compass Sheffield Event

The Student Career Compass brings to Sheffield Hallam University the biggest Careers event outside of London for the first time. It is a collaboration with Thrive Social Capital CIC, The University of Sheffield and Yorkshire wide universities to bring this event exclusively to Sheffield!

📍Sheffield Hallam Owen Building, Pennine Lecture Theatre, S1 1WB

The event will bring together a diverse mix of tech and non-tech organisations, including BBC, Microsoft, Amazon Warehouse Services , CBRE, Deloitte, Kier Group, NatWest Group, RSM UK, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Hub. It also includes all universities Yorkshire wide.

Students will gain valuable insights into:

✅ A day in the life of various roles and industries

✅ Career trajectories and opportunities available

✅ The journeys of recent graduates and apprentices

✅ What recruiters look for in candidates and how to make a strong application

To support students in navigating the recruitment process, we’ll also run a series of Skills Development sessions, including:

✅ What Recruiters Look for in a CV - a focused session on crafting impactful CVs

✅ Interview Preparation - led by a recruiter, offering practical guidance

✅ Live Mock Interviews  - showcasing best practices and common pitfalls

✅ Market Stalls - informal one-to-one conversations with employer representatives

✅ Entrepreneurship Session - for online attendees during the market stall break
